All deletions on Tumblr are final - deleted accounts or blogs cannot be restored.
Deleting Your Account
At this time, you can only delete your account / primary blog from a browser (on your computer or in a mobile browser), rather than in the app.
To delete your account:
- Click the account icon (
), then click Settings.
- Scroll down and click the “Delete Account” button at the bottom of the page.
- Enter your email address and password, then click “Delete everything".
- If TFA has been enabled for your account, you will be required to input the code.
Be aware:
- Deleting your primary blog will delete the whole account.
- Your secondary blog(s) with no other members will be deleted.
- If you were a member of any group blogs, your account will be removed.
- Your blog name will be released, and can be used by anyone else on Tumblr.
- You can create a new account with the same email address used last time.
Deleting a Secondary or Leaving a Group Blog on Web
- Click the account icon (
) at the top of the dashboard.
- Click on the name of the blog you would like to delete or leave on the right side of the page.
- Click “Delete blog” or “Leave [blogname]” at the bottom of the screen.
Deleting a Secondary or Group Blog Using our Mobile Apps
On iOS:
- Tap the account icon (
).
- Tap your blog's name in the upper left corner.
- Swipe left on the blog you'd like to delete or leave and choose "Delete" or "Leave [blogname]".
- A pop-up window will appear to confirm the deletion of your blog.
- Enter your account password and tap on “Delete”.
On Android:
- Tap the account icon (
).
- Tap your blog's name in the upper left corner.
- Tap the gear icon, then choose "Delete this Tumblr" or "Leave the group".
- A pop-up window will appear to confirm the deletion of your blog.
- Enter your account password and tap on “Delete”.
A Note on Group Blogs
Group blogs with any other members cannot be deleted, and you will be prompted to leave the blog. If you were the only blog Admin, another member will be automatically promoted to Admin. Learn more about administering group blogs here.
