If you're having issues uploading photos or GIFs, check out our image troubleshooting article.
On Web
You can add a photo to a brand new original post, or to a reblog.
Making an Original Photo Post
If you're starting with a new original post, click the photo post icon to get started. That will open the following editor:
From there, you can:
- Click the camera icon on the left to upload images from your computer.
- Drag files directly into the post form.
- Click "Add photo from web" and paste an image URL.
You can choose up to 10 images, then drag to rearrange them. If you’ve already added photos, you can add more by clicking the camera icon below them that says "Add another."
Here’s a tip: If you hold down the alt/option key, the "Add another" camera icon turns into a globe and you can add more photos using a URL instead of uploading them from your computer.
Adding Photos to a Reblog
When you're reblogging any post, you'll see a space to add a caption. On the right side of the post form, you'll see a camera icon. Click this to upload images from your computer.
Using the Beta Post Editor on Web
If you've opted into the beta post editor on the web, the post form will look a bit different but the same functionality is there (plus more!). To learn about the beta editor, head over to this article.
In the Apps
Making an Original Photo Post
With a new post form open, you'll see a row of thumbnails along the bottom of the editor:
Tap the camera icon to take a picture, or scroll through the thumbnails to select an image, video, or GIF from your device.
If the photo isn't showing up in the row of thumbnails, tap the album icon at the bottom of the editor to open your photo gallery:
You can also take a photo after opening your gallery: Tap the camera icon in the upper-left corner.
Note: If you've already added some text or other content to your post, you won't see a row of thumbnails. You can always access your images or take a photo by tapping the album icon.
You can add up to 10 photos to a post. Tap and hold a photo to rearrange them, or drag a photo to the trash can icon to remove it from your post.
Once you've added a photo to your post, tap the palette icon to add text, stickers, filters, and more. Read more about content editing tools here.
Next to the palette icon is an icon with three dots. Tap that icon to add alt text to your image.
Adding Photos to a Reblog
Add a photo to any reblog by tapping the album icon (see the screenshot above), then choose the photo(s) you want to include. You can also tap the camera icon in the gallery view to take a new photo.
