Tumblr Post+ allows creators to make money on Tumblr, and gives fans a way to support the artists they love!
Post+ has two parts: Creators and supporters.
As a creator you’ll set up an account for payments in a quick and easy process. You'll then be able to make a +Post (a post with a paywall), only viewable to you and your supporters. You’ll also be able to offer supporter-exclusive perks.
As a supporter, you’ll back the creators you love with a monthly subscription, giving you access to exclusive content and perks.
Q: Is Tumblr becoming a paid service?
A:No. Tumblr will remain free to use. Anyone who chooses to enable Post+ on their blog will still be able to make free posts, and Post+ doesn't put a paywall over their entire blog. The creator chooses which posts they'd like to make available exclusively to paying supporters.
Q: Can +Posts be reblogged?
A: Yes, but only the content above the teaser line is publicly visible. Any content added to the reblog is also visible publicly.
Q: Does Post+ prevent non-supporters from following my blog?
A: No. Non-supporters will still be able to follow and interact with your blog without paying. You'll choose which posts you'd like to be available exclusively to your paying supporters.
Q: How should I share my feedback and suggestions for Post+?
A: Please send all of your thoughts to our Support team. You can use the "Post+" subject in the Support form. We are eager to hear from the community as we continue to shape the future of Post+.
Q: Who handles Post+ payments? Does Tumblr store my credit card information?
A:For web transactions, we’ve partnered with Stripe, a widely used payment processor that is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. Tumblr doesn't store or have access to your credit card number, expiration, or CVC.
Transactions from the iOS app are handled via Apple’s in-app purchase feature.
Transactions from the Android app are handled via Android’s in-app purchase feature.
Q: What about fan fiction, fan art, or other fan-created works?
A: This question has come up a lot since the initial launch of Post+, which makes sense given how big fandom is on Tumblr. We've also seen a lot of misinformation about this floating around, so let us clarify: +Posts are subject to the same guidelines and DMCA policies as any other post.
Our Community Guidelines outline that we do not allow for anyone to post content that violates the copyrights or trademarks of others, regardless of whether or not that content is being monetized. Whether a particular piece of content meets the requirements for fair use will be very specific to that creative work. We encourage all users to read the Community Guidelines and use their best judgement when it comes to the content they publicly share on Tumblr.
We also have a DCMA process for copyright holders to flag potentially violative content for removal. This process also provides the content creator the opportunity to respond to this claim if they feel their content is not violating copyright.
Q: Who can set up a Post+ subscription plan?
A: In order to become a Post+ creator, you must reside in one of the following countries:

Additionally, password-protected blogs, blogs that are flagged as explicit/adult, and group blogs cannot activate Post+. You can learn more in our eligibility article.

Q: What kind of content can I share?
A: You can share any type of content that you can post to Tumblr. When creating a post, you choose where to place the line in a post that divides the free content from the content that is only available to paying supporters. As with all of your posts, be sure to keep Tumblr’s Community Guidelines in mind. You can read more about creating +Posts here.
Q: What are my responsibilities as a creator?
A: You'll be providing content and perks to your supporters. You can read more about this here.
Q: Can I change the price that supporters pay?
A: No. You can only have one price on a single blog. Once you have a paying supporter, you can no longer change the price. In the future, we may consider offering multiple subscription options per blog.
Q: What content is visible to paying supporters vs. the public?
A: You'll decide if a post can be accessed by supporters only, or by anyone. Supporters-only posts will have a teaser line. Content above the line is public, and content below the line can only be accessed by supporters.
Q: Can I use my current blog, or do I need to create a new blog?
A: You can do either. That said, you should consider using an existing blog so that all of your current followers will see your +Posts (but only above the teaser line) and will be encouraged to subscribe.
Q: Do I have to use a primary blog?
A: No, you can use a primary or secondary blog. However, Post+ can't be enabled on group blogs.
Q: Can I enable Post+ on more than one blog?
A: Yes. However, each blog with Post+ enabled will have a separate Stripe account. If you need help managing your Stripe details, contact Support.
Q: How much of the money that a supporter pays do I receive as the creator? Are there any fees?
A: This will depend on where the subscriber chose to begin their subscription. Tumblr's fee is 5% of the total purchase price. Additional fees are set by our payment processors.

Q: Do I need to be a Tumblr user in order to become a paying Post+ supporter?
Q: I don't live in one of the regions listed in the eligibility article. Can I become a Post+ supporter?
A: Yes. There are no geographic restrictions for supporters.
Q: Will any of my personal information be shared with the owner of the blog I support?
A: No. Your blog name and any information you share publicly on your blog will be available to the owner of the blog you are subscribing to, but no other personal information is shared.
Q: Will I be notified of new +Posts?
A: Yes. When you become a supporter of a blog, we’ll also send you push notifications for posts by that blog (you can turn these off, if you'd like). In addition, we’ll send you an email when the blog creates a +Post.
Q: Can I cancel my subscription?
A: Yes. You must cancel your subscription at least 24 hours before the end of your current subscription period in order to avoid being charged for the next subscription period. You'll continue to have access to the premium content for the remainder of the subscription period you paid for. More information can be found here.
Q: Can I get a refund?
A: You can cancel your subscription at any time. We do not offer refunds for subscriptions you already paid for. If you believe there was a problem with a payment for a subscription you initiated on an Apple device, please contact Apple Support.
